History:
Gaille was born to Ambrose and Autumn Desmarais in a vast estate five miles away from the shore in Calais, France. Her mother, a frail woman of fragile beauty, died giving birth to Gaille making her an only child to a father that was doting, yes, but also tried to be strict and firm with a daughter who, while growing up, had a penchant for taking off into the nearest town unsupervised, sneaking into taverns dressed like a pauper so she could play cards and listen to bawdy stories, and did everything that was unbecoming of a lady in that time. While she did have a feminine influence in the form of a widower that had no children of her own as her husband died young and she never remarried, Gaille always had a strong streak, a thick independence that prevented her from doing as she was told. Her father, a well known judge that often took trips to Paris, didn't know what to do with his daughter try as he might to explain the way of things. Gaille would have nothing of what he was telling her! When she was of age to marry, many suitors came to call upon her, but she always managed to run them off one way or another.
When Gaille was twenty years of age, her father was murdered en route to Paris. There were many rumors about who took his life, but no one was arrested for the crime. In the wake of her father's death, Gaille's Uncle Bernard - a lifelong bachelor - arrived from Bordeaux to oversee the estate, the financial situation, and the well-being of his only niece. Since his arrival at the estate, Gaille has seen him as completely over-bearing, unreasonable, and terribly dominating over all things that had once been the pride of her father. He has even taken the advice of many of her father's friends and associates - mainly of the female variety - and has been encouraging Gaille to marry into a good family, to a good man that will take care of her and take her off of his hands. She has done the unthinkable in response to her uncle - she has asked him to return to his home in Bordeaux and sign over the estate to her as well as allow her to oversee the finances. After one particularly nasty argument where he laughed in her face at the very idea, she mounted her horse and disappeared for eight days until her uncle - tiring of her antics - sent out his finest men to find her and bring her back. Ever since that argument, he has been in talks with many well-to-do families across France (and even England) in hopes of arranging a marriage for his niece.
